Common Table Committee
Lynn Campbell lynn.campbell@snet.net and Kim Wood dkcckwood@sbcglobal.net
The Common Table provides food and drink to all members of the team and their families on the day of a regatta. We bring a trailer with supplies to the regatta, set up our tent, table, and grills, and serve snacks, beverages, and full meals throughout the day. Everybody is expected to bring something and to contribute to the operation - either shopping for supplies, loading your car with food, grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, or restocking food items throughout the day. Working at the Common Table is a great way to meet people and make new friends!
Facilities and Maintenance Committee - Lio Gervasi ferroce999@yahoo.com and Bill D’Eugenio
The mission of the facilities committee is the upkeep of all equipment including boats, boat launches, boathouse, boat dock and launch dock. The safety of the athletes and the handling of all equipment are in constant consideration. This is realized by performing group training sessions. The support and success of the program is accomplished thru collaboration with the coaches and the members of the Friends of Farmington Crew. People with any of the following skills are needed to ensure the success of the mission: Mechanical and/or Electrical/Electronic aptitude, Boat repair, Rigging, Carpentry, Boating license.
Photos & Publicity Committee – Joy Taylor (photos) and Bob Lane webmaster@avisturner.com (website)
Our seasons are documented by a variety of amateur parent photographers and it is often heard "there is NO such thing as a BAD crew photo"! The rivers, rowers, and New England scenery provide an excellent subject matter for the photographer in all of us. (And who doesn't love photos of their kids having fun?!) A selection of photos is posted on the crew website, and others are forwarded to FHS for the 9:05 News and yearbook. We also send photos and crew news to local newspapers and other media when there is a noteworthy crew event. At the end of each season, the photos are compiled into a slide show that is shown at the banquet.
If you find you have a few good photos at the end of a race and would like to share them with the crew community, please forward them to our official photographer/senior parent Joy Taylor at joybtaylor@comcast.net . Make sure you note the event name and date when you send them. She will do her best to utilize your submissions. Joy's "term" as our photographer ends in the spring 2010, so please contact her if you think you'd like to be even more involved in the photography and publicity in the years to come.
Fundraising- Darlene Cirilli and Andrea Cooper
Fundraising is one of the important links in the crew program. The efforts of fundraising help to fund equipment, additional coaches, buses etc…. Our fundraising efforts also include a community service component. We have helped the Friends of Special Needs Program at the high school purchase a handicap van, Unico with their pasta supper ( they have given it all back to us and more in donations), and we have collected food and money for the Farmington Food pantry. We are a group of Mom and Dads who get together a few nights to plan a fundraiser for the season . Fundraising is looking for a group of fun parents that can work together putting on an event that will help raise funds for the crew team. We have done several different fundraisers over the years and have found a few that seem to work well, and net a good profit. Because we have done then in the past the logistics are already worked out, we just need to execute. The fundraisers we do are very large and need many people to do make them work. If it is only an hour or two we can find something for you to do. You can contact Darlene Cirilli 860-559-4575 or d.cirilli58@comcast.net for more information.
